Santiago.- El presidente de la República, Luis Abinader y el director ejecutivo del Servicio Nacional de Salud (SNS), doctor Mario Lama, realizaron un recorrido por el hospital Universitario José María Cabral y Báez de esta ciudad y dejaron en funcionamiento nuevas áreas totalmente equipadas.
Se trata de una serie de remozamientos y ampliación que se realizan en este centro de salud y en esta primera fase abarcó las alas sur y oeste, comprendidas entre el primer y sexto piso de la estructura hospitalaria.
El doctor Mario Lama, titular del SNS, destacó que con la ampliación de este hospital se suman al sistema hospitalario de la zona 29 nuevas Unidades de Cuidados Intensivos (UCI), que permitirán reforzar los servicios y la capacidad de respuesta a la población, ante la pandemia por COVID-19.
“Hoy se inicia el antes y el después de la ciudad corazón, agradecemos al presidente por priorizar siempre la salud de los dominicanos”, enfatizó.
Áreas remozadas
En el pasillo principal se construyeron áreas de Servicios, Esterilización, Lavandería, Cocina, Comedor y Cafetería, además de áreas de Bioingeniería, Mantenimiento y una subestación de Emergencia.
Asimismo, una zona destinada para pacientes de Odontología con 19 estaciones, una unidad de Cirugía y una nueva área Administrativa; todas situadas en el ala oeste.
En el lado sur, también fueron construidas 29 estaciones de UCI con nueve camas para atenciones polivalentes, doce coronarias y tres destinadas al aislamiento de pacientes en condiciones especiales.
El hospital docente ahora tiene un salón adecuado para los estudiantes de Medicina, espacio que fue pensado para el futuro desarrollo de los profesionales de la salud.
Además, el centro cuenta con 50 camas de internamiento que servirán para que los pacientes de escasos recursos de esta región reciban atención de calidad, tal y como ha prometido el primer mandatario, quien durante su intervención resaltó los modernos equipos de los que dispondrá el área de imágenes y de resonancia magnética que también fue construida dentro del Cabral y Báez.
Durante el recorrido, también acompañaron al mandatario de la Nación, Raquel Peña, vicepresidenta y coordinadora del Gabinete de Salud, Plutarco Arias, ministro de Salud Pública y Carlos Bonilla, director del Instituto Nacional de la Vivienda (INVI).
